While our minds are always leaning towards tea to some degree, with summer sitting just around the corner our thoughts are now increasingly turning to cooler drinks to keep the heat at bay.
Matcha has been an on-trend drink for a few seasons now with matcha lattes available on most cafe's menus - not least because of it's health benefits - but it is still a relatively new ingredient in iced tea.
Iced tea is an amazing way to quench your thirst on a hot day and the perfect thing for sipping your way through the summer. There are many ways to enjoy this delicious drink, but here is one simple recipe you can make at home, for garden parties or easily prepare at a busy cafe or tearoom.
Ingredients - per portion
½ a teaspoon matcha (or try our Matcha Chai for extra spice)
125ml cloudy apple juice
2 pinches of cinnamon (if using regular matcha)
Soda or sparkling water
Garnish with fresh fruit and rosemary sprigs
Preparation
Put the matcha in a shaker and add cold water, mix to a paste
Add the apple juice and cinnamon if using.
Shake vigorously.
Pour into a glass filled with ice
Add soda or sparkling water
Garnish
Of course, you can always alter the juice and the garnishes to suit your mood or your taste, why not try Mango muddled with Basil and garnished with a Dried Chilli or how about Pear Juice with Ginger garnished with Thyme.
